THE NESS MEMORY HUB EXMOUTH & EAST DEVON

This September we are celebrating our 1st Birthday at The Ness Memory Hub in Exmouth!  Join us on the 26th September to celebrate one year of local dementia care.  Read on to find our what we do at The Ness in East Devon.

In Exmouth we worked closely with the local NHS and renovated an old NHS building, converting it into a beautiful memory space dedicated to helping anyone worried about their memory or already on the dementia pathway.

The space is supported by an expert team with access to a dementia nurse specialist to answer any questions.  The space is not NHS or clinical but for everyone and does 3 things:

A Day Service – We are a day centre with a difference!  You can come to The Hub for the whole day or half a day and have a hot tasty meal, healthy active stimulation and therapeutic social time in a small group.  This gives families some space, time to catch up on rest or jobs and importantly helps keep the individual independent and healthy.  Anyone with memory loss should be attending a specialist space like this to help their brains and access support for dementia.

Dementia Therapy – We use NHS & National Institute of Clinical Excellence therapies to delay brain deterioration.  Our primary therapy is Cognitive Stimulation Therapy but check our website for all the ways we work with you to keep the brain healthy.  Like a gym for your brain this has been shown to slow the deterioration caused by dementia.  We measure everything we do and can prove the benefits of coming at least once a week for a work out for your brain.  Check out this video – https://vimeo.com/1005804377

Carer Support & Information –  We are here for the family and those that care for someone living with dementia.  Our Exmouth Ness Hub has a drop in coffee morning for those that care or help someone living with memory loss.  It is totally free often run by a healthcare professional and is a chance for some peer support and to help with current challenges.  We offer advice and information at anytime on the phone, just pick up the phone and call.  Finally, we can offer families advice and information in a way and at a time that suits them.  We want to help families continue to provide care for dementia in their own home.

It costs nothing to become a Ness member and you are instantly surrounded by support, expert advice and access to help.

Come and find out more about our local dementia care, join us to celebrate our birthday and see the amazing space.

26th September from 2:30pm to 5:30pm
