Understanding Dementia
1-Day Course for Families & Informal Carers
Caring for someone living with dementia can be both rewarding and challenging. This one-day course is designed specifically for family members and informal carers, giving you the knowledge and confidence to provide better support.
You’ll gain practical insight into:
- The biology and progression of dementia
- The psychosocial impact on both the person and their loved ones
- Strategies for managing common symptoms
Our focus is on you—the carer. By the end of the course, you’ll have a deeper understanding of dementia and practical tools to support the person you care for, while also looking after your own wellbeing.
Dementia – A Deep Dive
1-Day CPD Course for Health & Social Care Professionals
At The Ness we create bespoke dementia courses for your team. However, this advanced one-day course goes beyond standard dementia awareness training, equipping professionals with a deeper understanding of the condition and its impact.
Through the day you will:
- Explore the neurology and biology underpinning cognitive decline
- Understand the why behind best-practice psychosocial care
- Learn practical strategies for communicating effectively and managing challenging behaviours
By the end of the course, you’ll not only gain fresh insights into dementia treatment but also enhance your professional practice with tips on expert communication & evidence-based knowledge. Successful completion contributes to your CPD and includes a certificate of achievement.
Cognitive Stimulation Therapy
1 or 2 day Course: Training to Become a Dementia Activity Specialist
This 1 or 2 day course equips you with the skills and confidence to deliver outstanding cognitive stimulation exercises for people living with dementia. You’ll explore not only Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST), but also Cognitive Rehabilitation Therapy (CRT) and a range of evidence-based activities designed to support both physical and mental wellbeing after diagnosis.
At The Ness, we have spent over a decade specialising in dementia activities and therapies—running, teaching, and continually refining cognitive stimulation practices. Led by Jonathan, who has explored both core therapies and innovative approaches, this course is grounded in real-world expertise and experience.
By the end of the course, you will:
- Be a certified CST practitioner
